There is mixed news in this month’s preliminary real estate stats for the Albuquerque metro area. Sales weren’t down in any area; they held steady when compared to sales in March 2012. However, one part of the metro area did experience a sizeable increase in sales. Please read on to learn which area fared much better than the others.
Due to the cyclical nature of the real estate market, this report compares sales in March 2013 to March 2012.

Albuquerque Metro Home Sales Stats
There have been 507 closed sales reported so far, compared with 486 sales last March. That’s a 5.4% increase in total sales. No doubt a few more sales will be reported, but the chance that we’re going to blow by last years numbers with a double digit increase in home sales is pretty small.
Total distressed property sales (foreclosure sales and short sales) were down about 4.5% compared to last year.
House Sales in Rio Rancho
The numbers are considerably better in Rio Rancho. So far 145 closed sales have been reported, up from the 105 closed sales that were reported last year. That’s an increase of 38% and that number could even grow slightly.
Distressed property sales were up about 4%.
Sales in the Outlying Areas Areas
These Albuquerque real estate statistics were provided by the Greater Albuquerque Association of REALTORS®data on 03/05/2013. This data is reflective of homes which were listed on the Albuquerque MLS; private sales are not included.
