Last week I had the opportunity to visit 
Jubilee Active Adult Community in Los Lunas NM. I spent over two hours there viewing the models, the clubhouse (Villa Jubilee), and talking with the staff.
I had a good time getting to know more about the project, the new ownership and their plans for the future. I was very impressed.
This is Not Huning Ranch!
Many people are aware of the construction problems at nearby Huning Ranch development in Los Lunas, where some of the homes have reportedly experienced some serious structural issues.
Like many Albuquerque Realtors, I have been guilty in the past in lumping the homes at Jubilee in with the houses at Huning Ranch just because it’s in the same new home area. Now that I’ve been down to Jubilee and spoken with the staff and viewed the development in person I realize that just wasn’t fair.
Indeed this is not Huning Ranch, and according to the staff on site, there have not been any problems with the soil and any shifting foundations.
Villa Jubilee
There is large clubhouse in the center of the development, but calling the Villa Jubilee a clubhouse doesn’t do it justice. That’s because it’s much more than a meeting room and a small gym. There’s a large workout room with lots of equipment including a recumbent elliptical machine and a wheel chair accessible workout station, a room for fitness classes, a craft room, a Texas hold ‘em table, a man cave, a large bar, meeting room and bocce ball court.
Plans for the future include a ballroom and pool (they are taking bids right now and are planning to open the pool May 2013).
Construction Standards and Standard Features at Jubilee
Construction standards are high at Jubilee. Here are some of the building features that set Jubilee homes apart from most production builders:
- 2X6 construction on all exterior walls 16″ on center
- 2×6 plumbing walls
- The entire exterior is wrapped with OSB
- Radiant Barrier Sheathing on the roof
- R-5 foundation insulation
There are some great standard features inside the homes too:
- Granite counter tops
- Ceramic tile
- Refrigerated air
- Davis Kitchens Oak Cabinetry
- Taped, textured and painted garages (interior, of course)
